Session 1.5 – Presentation & Discussion: New and Emerging Technologies in Arrhythmia Management
In this session, Serge Boveda (Toulouse, France) explores the rapidly evolving landscape of arrhythmia technologies, outlining three major families of tools shaping the future of AF ablation: single-shot devices, large-footprint mapping-and-ablate systems, and single-tip dual-energy catheters. Drawing on registry data and early-generation clinical experience, he highlights how PFA-enabled platforms are improving procedural reproducibility, operator independence and safety – while accelerating innovation across the field.
Chaired by Richard Schilling (London, UK), a lively discussion with Andrea Sarkozy (Brussels, Belgium) and Lucas Boersma (Nieuwegein, The Netherlands) examines not only the opportunities, but the risks of progress: balancing speed with signal interpretation, preventing over-ablation, managing cost while maintaining access and ensuring careful patient selection as procedures become simpler and outcomes more predictable. The panel debate where RF remains essential, how dual-energy catheters may bridge technologies and what the “ideal” AF ablation tool might look like in the coming years.
Together, the session captures a specialty undergoing transformational change – and asks how electrophysiologists can harness these advances responsibly to expand access while preserving precision.
