During this session, hear from experienced electrophysiologists on the latest pulsed field ablation (PFA) technologies integrated within the CARTO™ System and how these innovations are being incorporated into clinical workflows. Chaired by Giuseppe Ciconte (Milan, IT), the faculty outline both the supporting clinical evidence and practical considerations for using dual-energy and PFA technologies within the lab on the same day.
Benjamin Berte (Lucerne CH) presents results from the SmartfIRE study, which evaluated the safety and efficacy of the novel dual-energy THERMOCOOL SMARTTOUCH™ SF catheter for the treatment of drug-refractory, symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. The study demonstrated an 86.9% effectiveness rate, highlighting the potential of this approach to achieve durable clinical outcomes.
Additionally, Alexandre Almorad (Brussels, BE) reviews data from the Varipure registry, underscoring the strong safety profile of the Varipulse™ Platform, including a primary adverse event rate of 0.6% and no reported strokes. These findings provide important real-world insights into the clinical performance of PFA technology.
Finally, Leon Iden (Bad Segeberg, DE) shares how he has integrated both technologies into his lab, detailing workflow strategies, patient selection considerations, and procedural efficiencies observed in routine practice. The session concludes with an engaging panel discussion and audience Q&A.
